Customer emails, answered with zero touch.

A fully automated pipeline that reads, classifies, answers and routes customer emails around the clock for a national telecom provider, and hands a person only the cases that genuinely need one.

  • ~$300K a year saved: in recurring support operating costs.
  • Zero touch for most emails: routine queries resolved with no manual triage.
  • Safe by design: complex, sensitive or uncertain cases always go to an agent.

In a nutshell

The client runs one of the region's largest telecom and digital ecosystems, with millions of customer interactions a year. Every support email about billing, service issues, complaints or general questions had to be read, classified, answered and routed by a person. We built a zero-touch system that does all of that automatically in real time, combining deterministic workflow logic with NLP classification and policy-aligned responses, and escalates to agents only when a human is genuinely needed.

Client data protectedThe client is anonymised, and every customer, email, number and volume in the demos is fictional, with personal details masked. The workflow is real; the data is not.
01 · The problem

Four manual steps for every email

Read it, classify it, draft a reply, route the ticket: every email went through people, so at peak times the queue simply grew. Set the peak and see what a day looked like, then switch on zero touch.

What was going wrong
  • High cost: whole support roles existed just to triage and send basic replies.
  • Slow first responses: customers waited, longest during busy periods.
  • Inconsistent answers: the same question got different replies from different agents.
  • Peak bottlenecks: volume spikes created backlogs and long delays.
  • Wasted skill: experienced agents spent their time on routine emails.
02 · Ingestion and intent classification

Every email understood in seconds

Emails are captured straight from the enterprise mailbox. NLP classification decides what each one is about and how urgent it is, and flags anything sensitive. Pick an email and classify it.

Fictional emails. Phone and account numbers are masked, as they are in the real pipeline's logs.
03 · Automated response generation

The same right answer, every time

Replies come from predefined templates and response logic aligned with support policy, filled with the details of each case and checked before sending. Choose a case and watch the reply assemble.

04 · Smart routing and escalation

Automate the routine. Escalate the rest.

Low-risk queries are resolved automatically; complex, sensitive or ambiguous ones go to an agent. Move the safety line yourself: the higher you set it, the more the system hands to people. Then turn the safety rules off and see why they exist.

05 · Workflow orchestration

One workflow from inbox to resolution

n8n orchestrates the whole process on AWS, connected to Google Workspace mail and the existing ticketing and support workflow. Send an email through it, or tap any node.

06 · What made it hard

Full automation, without the risk

Answers had to be right, escalation had to be safe, and everything had to plug into the support operation that already existed. Flip each card from the challenge to how we solved it.

07 · The result

Lower cost, faster replies, same service quality

Following deployment, the system removed manual triage, cut recurring costs and sped up responses, while keeping replies consistent with support policy.

~$300Kannual operational cost savings
Zero touchfor the majority of inbound customer emails
Fasterfirst responses, with replies consistent across every customer
Smallerbacklog and better-managed queues, even at peak
The resultSeveral manual triage roles were no longer needed, skilled agents focused on the cases that need them, and the client proved that workflow automation and AI classification can run high-volume support at enterprise scale.
